The Running Iron boys are back in the bunkhouse with another terrific guest. In this episode Craig and Jim are joined by New York City native, and Oregon renaissance legend, Mr. Jack McGowan. Jack discusses growing up in the Big Apple, living next door to Bob Dylan, the Weather Underground bombings, brushes with the Baghwan Shree Rajneesh, adventures in the deepest Amazon, and his herculean efforts to keep Oregon beautiful as the Executive Director of SOLV — Stop Oregon Litter and Vandalism. Fun, funny, occasionally moving — and always informative — this is another great Running Iron Podcast you don’t want to miss.
And, just a friendly reminder…Running Iron Podcasts are now available on iTunes.

Really interesting podcast here. I actually hadn’t heard of the Baghwan Shree Rajneesh.
Thanks Matt. The Baghwan and Ma Anand Sheila were something to behold. There is an excellent new documentary series entitled “Wild Country” that breaks it all down extremely well. You might enjoy.

This was a religious experience. Saintly Jack. If there was one in every state we would definitely have a fighting chance to reverse our current and overwhelming heading. Audio quality was excellent. Yes, Oilcan was a distant voice, but fittingly so. However, he does deserve his own mic as evidenced from this podcast. I listened through the iTunes Podcast app. Worked flawlessly and effortlessly. If you all can continue with this level of quality guests, you will soon have a runaway X ‑ring hit. This one definitely increased my hope by quantum leaps and bounds. Oh, and did I mention Joni…
Music is what carried my generation along and informed everything. I also thought I had suddenly been dropped into a Firesign Theatre moment with your intro exchange. Like The Beatles, FST is also down to two now. Both groups were the Fab Four. It appears you achieved the same here. Loved every minute!!
Well, ST, have to say that was a mighty fine way to start my day. Thank you.
Thank you Tramp. We have a lineup of really great guests in the offing — and through them keep finding more. We do have a few minor audio hiccups to address but we are getting better –and the learning curve for non-techies is considerable. You give us high praise, and it is much appreciated. The next interview is now in post-production, and we hope to have it out and available soon. Safe travels.
A fascinating podcast, gentlemen. Fascinating.
Beyond all the community and activism, Jack’s brief touching on his Amazon travel brought to mind Jorge Amado’s THE VIOLENT LAND, though the crop there was cocoa not rubber. (https://paulmcnamee.blogspot.com/2016/05/recent-read-violent-land.html)
I need to read the THE LOST CITY OF Z.
Jim keeps getting caught in Africa, I seem to keep coming up in the Amazon.
Keep up the posts and podcasts!
Thank you Paul.
